Position Overview:

KAEKO is in search of a Licensed Civil Engineer who will provide professional guidance, leadership, and training to team members while planning and coordinating new land development projects for commercial sites. The key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing construction plans and preparing submissions for regulatory agencies.
  • Organizing and scheduling project tasks to meet established budgets and timelines.
  • Collaborating with CAD Technicians and other design team members.
  • Managing full design responsibilities for smaller projects or specific design tasks for larger, more complex projects.
  • Researching and adhering to relevant city and agency design guidelines, codes, and checklists.
  • Gathering as-built information for horizontal and vertical design considerations.
  • Coordinating with other consultants within the design team.
  • Conducting vertical grading design and earthwork analysis.
  • Preparing drainage calculations and feasibility studies.
  • Generating quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Ensuring quality control and collaborating with CAD staff to reflect the project design accurately.
  • Establishing and enhancing standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications.
  • Providing real-time technical advice and cost estimates to project managers.
  • Reviewing and directing revisions to design packages as necessary.
  • Exhibiting meticulous attention to detail.
  • Demonstrating initiative in expanding knowledge and skills.
  • Reviewing as-builts, submissions, and redlines.
  • Coordinating with all involved disciplines (Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural) as well as external consultants and contractors.
  • Engaging with code officials, contractors, and clients on technical matters.
  • Utilizing the latest versions of Revit and/or AutoCAD to prepare design drawings as specified by the engineering team.
  • Thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Participating in client meetings to discuss project scope, cost reduction strategies, and value engineering opportunities.
  • Applying problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in the design and development of engineered drawings.
  • Coordinating changes and gathering information from various sources to ensure accurate information flow.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Licensed Civil Engineer in Arizona.
  • Experience in land development or commercial site projects is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required; 8+ years is preferred with progressive technical experience.
  • Proven track record of providing technical oversight on projects that meet contract specifications and standards on time and within budget.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; experience with Civil 3D is preferred.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite and adaptability to new software and technology.
  • Fundamental understanding of civil engineering principles and construction documentation.
  • Advanced knowledge of design standards, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple detailed tasks with concurrent deadlines.
  • Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a clean room environment.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
