Job DescriptionJob Description

The Construction Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for construction projects. This role is critical to ensuring that Clarke Powered Solutions remains competitive and profitable while delivering high-quality construction services. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in construction estimating, a strong understanding of construction processes, and the ability to analyze and interpret project plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation:
    Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Ensure estimates are accurate, competitive, and aligned with project requirements.

  • Bid Preparation:
    Develop comprehensive bid proposals based on estimates, including all necessary documentation and supporting information. Work closely with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure bids are complete and submitted on time.

  • Project Analysis:
    Review and analyze project plans, drawings, and specifications to understand the scope of work and identify potential challenges or opportunities. Provide input on cost-saving measures and value engineering.

  • Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination:
    Obtain and review quotes from vendors and subcontractors. Evaluate and select the most competitive and qualified bids to include in the overall project estimate.

  • Risk Assessment:
    Identify and assess potential risks associated with project costs and timelines. Develop contingency plans to mitigate identified risks.

  • Cost Tracking and Reporting:
    Monitor actual project costs against estimates, providing regular reports to project managers and senior management. Adjust estimates as necessary to reflect changes in project scope or market conditions.

  • Collaboration:
    Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure estimates are aligned with project goals and objectives. Participate in project kickoff meetings and provide ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Market Research:
    Stay informed about market trends, material costs, labor rates, and other factors that may impact construction costs. Adjust estimates and pricing strategies accordingly.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and methods.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Procore, or similar).
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification from the American Society of Professional Estimators (ASPE) or equivalent.
  • Experience estimating for commercial, industrial, or large-scale residential projects.
  • Familiarity with sustainable construction practices and green building certifications.
