Position Overview:
KAEKO is in search of a Licensed Civil Engineer who will play a pivotal role in providing professional guidance, leadership, and training to team members. This position involves planning and coordinating new land development projects for both site and commercial ventures. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing construction plans and preparing submissions for regulatory agencies.
  • Organizing and scheduling tasks to achieve project goals within set budgets and timelines.
  • Collaborating with CAD Technicians and other design team members.
  • Overseeing full design responsibilities for smaller projects or executing task-oriented designs for more complex assignments.
  • Researching and adhering to relevant city and agency design guidelines, codes, and checklists.
  • Gathering as-built information for both horizontal and vertical design to accommodate existing constraints.
  • Coordinating with other consultants on design teams for site and commercial projects.
  • Conducting vertical grading design and earthwork analysis.
  • Preparing drainage calculations and assisting in feasibility studies.
  • Generating quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
  • Ensuring quality control and collaborating with CAD staff to ensure plans accurately reflect project designs.
  • Establishing and enhancing standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications.
  • Providing real-time technical advice and cost estimates to project managers as needed.
  • Reviewing and directing modifications to design packages as necessary.
  • Demonstrating meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exhibiting pride in work and a proactive approach to expanding knowledge.
  • Reviewing as-builts, submissions, and redlines.
  • Coordinating with all involved disciplines (Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Structural), including external consultants and contractors.
  • Engaging in technical discussions with code officials, contractors, and clients.
  • Utilizing the latest versions of Revit and/or AutoCAD to create design drawings as specified by the engineering team.
  • Thriving in a collaborative team environment.
  • Participating in meetings with clients and stakeholders to review project scopes, explore cost-reduction strategies, and offer value engineering solutions.
  • Applying problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in the design and development of engineered drawings.
  • Coordinating changes and gathering information from various sources to ensure accurate information flow.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Licensed Civil Engineer in Arizona.
  • Preferred experience in land development or site/commercial projects.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required; 8+ years is preferred with progressive technical experience.
  • Proven success in providing technical oversight on multiple projects that meet contract specifications and technical standards on time and within budget.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; Civil 3D experience is preferred.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite and a willingness to learn new software and technologies.
  • Fundamental understanding of civil engineering principles and construction plans.
  • Advanced knowledge of design standards, principles, and practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple detailed tasks with concurrent deadlines.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work in a clean room environment.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
