About Us:
Insomnia Cookies is on a mission to redefine the dessert experience. We are currently in search of a talented and seasoned Lead Inventory Accountant with a focus on Inventory Management and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) to become a vital part of our finance team. This full-time role will report directly to the Senior Accounting Manager and will be instrumental in overseeing all facets of inventory accounting and COGS analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Management:
    • Ensure precise inventory records and timely documentation of inventory transactions.
    • Conduct regular reconciliations of inventory and address any discrepancies.
    • Oversee monthly physical inventory counts at various locations, ensuring adherence to company policies.
    • Analyze inventory movements, including purchases and adjustments.
  • Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) Analysis:
    • Calculate and scrutinize COGS for accuracy and completeness.
    • Generate detailed COGS reports and variance analyses.
    • Track cost trends, identify savings opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations.
    • Collaborate with operations and procurement teams to understand cost factors and implement control measures.
  • Process Enhancement:
    • Identify and implement process improvements in inventory and COGS accounting.
    • Develop and enforce policies to boost efficiency and accuracy.
    • Work with cross-functional teams to streamline operations and enhance data integrity.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Maintain the general ledger accounts and business transactions in line with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and corporate guidelines.
    • Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting.
    • Analyze financial data and prepare reports for senior management to facilitate informed decision-making.
    • Adapt internal processes to meet evolving business needs and regulations.
    • Take on additional responsibilities and assist with projects as required.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience in a dynamic environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial systems.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret large datasets for actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (such as Sage/Mas90, Hyperion, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel functions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with strong presentation abilities.
  • Understanding of cost relationships and the ability to influence teams for cost reduction initiatives.
  • Results-driven with a proactive approach and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
