Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Corporate Controller to join our team at Onward Energy. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in managing our in-house asset management function and assisting in the development of our finance and reporting capabilities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and finance, with experience in partnership accounting and energy industry project finance. You will be responsible for overseeing the accounting for renewable energy assets, reviewing financial statements, and coordinating with external auditors. Additionally, you will manage our ESG reporting process and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the accounting for renewable energy assets, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, depreciation, impairment, and disposal.
  • Review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reporting for renewable energy segments.
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure timely and accurate completion of audits and reviews.
  • Manage the ESG reporting process and ensure compliance with fund level, federal, state, and local requirements and regulations.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures for renewable energy operations and transactions.
  • Assist in the implementation of Workday, the Company's new ERP accounting system.
  • Provide due diligence support on new investment opportunities; manage and coordinate purchase accounting for newly acquired assets.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train the accounting team and ensure high performance and quality standards.
  • Support the VP-Controller and Finance in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis for renewable energy business units.
  • Research and monitor accounting and reporting developments and best practices for renewable energy industry.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to provide accounting guidance and support for renewable energy projects and initiatives.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration. CPA or equivalent certification required.
  • At least seven (7) years of public accounting experience and additional industry experience a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP and accounting standards for renewable energy assets and emissions reporting.
  • Experience in managing and leading accounting teams and projects.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP systems, and other accounting software, Workday preferred.
Work Environment

The position functions in a smoke and vape free professional office environment. The role routinely utilizes standard office equipment such as laptop computer, phone, and scanner/photocopier.
