Position Summary:

The role of the Machine Operator is crucial for the safe and efficient operation of various production machinery, ensuring that quality and output standards are consistently achieved. This position involves collaboration within a self-directed team environment, with some level of supervision, and is based at our Charlotte, NC facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Initiate, operate, clean, and shut down machinery and equipment according to established standard operating procedures, ensuring production and quality targets are met.
  • Manage material staging through barcoding and labeling, while maintaining accurate inventory records during production runs.
  • Adjust basic equipment settings in accordance with customer and product specifications.
  • Conduct precise testing procedures based on specifications and customer requirements as detailed in the Barrday control documentation.
  • Utilize hoists and pallet jacks, performing daily inspections as required.
  • Engage in basic data entry to track material and product specifications, as well as production and quality metrics during and after production runs.
  • Perform visual inspections of products during production to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, seeking assistance when necessary.
  • Document non-conforming materials and collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Package, label, and prepare finished products for shipment.
  • Provide production updates and reports to shift supervisors.
  • Adhere to 5S and lean manufacturing principles in daily tasks.
  • Maintain cleanliness and proper condition of equipment and work areas for subsequent shifts.
  • Promote a safe working environment and address safety concerns immediately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned within the department and other areas of the facility.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment or related machine operation roles.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Manual dexterity and attention to detail are essential.
  • Basic mathematical skills, particularly in measurement.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Willingness to adhere to assigned work schedules and work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to lift, bend, push, and move items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and system navigation.

Work Environment:

  • 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 rotation, working from 7 am to 7 pm.
  • Manufacturing environment with climate control.
  • Requires prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Involves lifting and loading with appropriate tools and machinery.
  • Training period of approximately 8 weeks, depending on individual learning pace.
