Position Summary:
The role of the Machine Operator involves the safe and efficient operation of various production machinery to achieve consistent quality and output goals. This position is integral to a self-directed team environment, requiring some level of supervision. The work will be conducted at our facility in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Initiate, operate, clean, and shut down machinery and equipment in line with standard operating procedures while meeting production and quality benchmarks.
- Manage material staging through barcoding and labeling, ensuring accurate inventory during production runs.
- Adjust basic equipment settings according to customer specifications and product requirements.
- Conduct tests following precise procedures based on specifications and customer needs as outlined in the Barrday control document.
- Operate hoists and pallet jacks, performing daily inspections as required.
- Utilize technology for data entry to verify material and product specifications and record production and quality data throughout production runs.
- Perform visual inspections of products during production to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot equipment issues, seeking assistance when necessary.
- Document non-conforming materials and collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams to implement corrective actions.
- Package, label, and prepare finished products for shipment.
- Provide production updates and reports to shift supervisors.
- Adhere to 5S and lean manufacturing principles in daily tasks.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of equipment and work areas for subsequent shifts.
- Promote a safe working environment and address safety concerns immediately.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within the department and other areas of the facility.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment or related machine operation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent manual dexterity is essential.
- Basic mathematical skills, particularly in measurement.
- High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Willingness to adhere to assigned work schedules and work overtime as needed.
- Ability to lift, bend, push, and move items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and system navigation.
Work Environment:
- 12-hour shifts on a 2-2-3 rotation from 7 am to 7 pm.
- Manufacturing environment (climate-controlled facility).
- Continuous standing and walking required.
- Involves lifting and loading with the assistance of appropriate tools and machinery.
- Training period of approximately 8 weeks, depending on individual learning pace.
