Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Development to join our team at NYU Langone Health. As a key member of the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs, you will play a critical role in creating and implementing strategies to attract funding for our institution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a portfolio of prospects with the potential to make significant gifts to NYU Langone Health.
  • Work closely with Senior Directors, Development Directors, faculty, and staff to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors and prospects with wealth capacity.
  • Document all development activity related to identification, cultivation, solicitation, and reporting/stewardship using the TRAX database.
  • Coordinate prospect research with the Prospect Research Management and Strategy team to identify new major donor prospects from the patient database and other sources.
  • Collaborate with members of the Major Gifts, Planned Giving, Donor Experience/Events, Alumni, Donor Relations, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Direct Response, Prospect Research, and Development Administration teams.
  • Assist with the development of event opportunities for cultivating and stewarding major donors and identifying new prospects.
  • Research and write briefings to prepare Medical Center faculty and executive management for effective meetings with major donors.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Medical Center's goals, priorities, and programs to ensure successful fundraising.
  • Liaise with the Donor Relations team to develop materials highlighting programs.
  • Prepare letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports to prospects and donors on behalf of Medical Center faculty members to seek support and steward gifts for research, education, and clinical services.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 5-8+ years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in major gifts.
  • 2 years of management experience preferred.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Experience in raising five and six-figure gifts.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, outgoing, and results-oriented.
  • The presence, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base.
  • Knowledge of software applications, including MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Development database experience.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment.
  • Works strategically, collaboratively, respectfully, and professionally with colleagues across all divisions and teams within the department.
  • Possesses the presence, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base.
  • Develops and enhances relationships through authenticity, professionalism, and trust.
  • Facilitates understanding through listening and crafting and delivering messages that meet the needs of different audiences.
  • Takes ownership of opportunities, challenges, and decisions to drive work and the organization forward.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in academic medical center fundraising preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325 - $114,660 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
