We are seeking an experienced Employment Specialist to join our team at Disability Solutions. This dynamic role involves providing specialized support to individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring successful employment outcomes in inclusive workplaces.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, a deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals with hearing impairments, and a commitment to fostering accessible work environments. They will assess the skills, abilities, and employment goals of job seekers, provide intensive training, and offer ongoing support to ensure job retention and career advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess the skills, abilities, and employment goals of job seekers who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Provide intensive hands-on, one-on-one training as the individual becomes increasingly more competent performing job requirements.
  • Train and counsel clients in competitive employment using systematic instructional techniques, compensatory strategies, job adaptation/modification, and positive behavioral support techniques.
  • Provide on-going support and advocacy as required for the continued employment of the individual.
  • Collect data and submit reports in accordance with specific requirements.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as Human Services, Social Work, or Deaf Education.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) and familiarity with deaf culture.
  • Proven experience in employment services, vocational rehabilitation, or related fields supporting individuals with disabilities.
Compensation

This is a rewarding opportunity with a competitive salary of $62,000 - $72,000 per year, depending on experience.
