We are seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to work with students in an academic setting, ensuring they have equal access to classroom instruction and school activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Interpretation Services: Provide real-time American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for students in classrooms and during school-related activities, ensuring clear and accurate communication.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other support professionals to adapt lesson content and meet students' unique needs.
  • Student Support: Assist students in developing their language and communication skills to promote engagement and participation in classroom activities.
  • Documentation: Maintain records on student progress, interpreting sessions, and communication needs as required by the school.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on best practices in educational interpreting and engage in training as needed to enhance skills.
Qualifications:
  • Certification: RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification or EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher preferred.
  • Experience: Prior experience interpreting in a school or educational setting is preferred, though not required.
  • Skills: Strong proficiency in ASL, excellent listening and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Personal Attributes: Patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting the educational and personal development of students with hearing impairments.

The estimated salary for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
