Tribal Liaison Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Tribal Liaison to join our team at the U.S. Department of the Interior. As a key member of our staff, you will play a critical role in building and maintaining relationships with Native American tribes, Alaska Native organizations, and Native Hawaiian organizations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement plans to enhance relationships with Indian tribes, Alaska Native organizations, and Native Hawaiian organizations.
- Conduct tribal consultations, public meetings, briefings, and other community relations activities.
- Provide training and technical assistance to land managers on tribal-related topics.
- Advise land managers on resource stewardship and tribal concerns.
- Collaborate with other agencies and organizations to advance tribal interests.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to travel overnight away from home up to 3 nights per month.
To qualify for this position, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications:
- At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service.
- Successful completion of at least a Ph.D., LL.M., or equivalent doctoral degree in Native American studies, tribal relations, public relations, recreation management, or other fields directly related to the position.
Applicants must meet two or more of the specialized experience statements defined above. You must include hours per week worked.
Volunteer experience is also eligible for consideration.
To qualify based on education, you must submit a legible copy of transcripts from an accredited institution with your name, school name, credit hours, course level, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.
