Job Summary

As a Laboratory Technical Coordinator at Chi, you will oversee laboratory personnel and operations in one or more laboratory sections to ensure compliance and quality in accordance with laboratory work processes. This role is responsible for the technical and scientific oversight of the clinical or pathology laboratory department.

Key Responsibilities

• Coach laboratory personnel to train for adherence to relevant policies and ethics
• Oversee most laboratory day-to-day operations and exercise authority over operational decisions
• Analyze and interpret laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory work processes
• Administer laboratory inventories such as supplies, equipment, and consumables
• Assist with selection of test methodology that is appropriate for the laboratory use of the test results
• Verify test procedures performed and establish the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including precision and accuracy of each test and test system
• Perform within an HHS-approved proficiency testing program commensurate with the services offered
• Administer a quality control program appropriate for the testing performed and establish the parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance, ensuring these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from specimen receipt to sample analysis and reporting of test results
• Train staff in and assist with the resolution of technical problems, ensuring remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications
• Ensure patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly
• Identify training needs and assure that each individual performing tests receives regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of the laboratory services performed
• Qualify and function as the CLIA-defined Technical Consultant, evaluating the competency of all testing personnel and assuring that staff maintain their competency to perform test procedures and report test results promptly, accurately, and proficiently

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in a chemical or biological science as defined by CLIA
• 2 years of clinical lab experience in the designed lab area/specialty
• Preferred experience: 3 years of Flow cytometry experience as a Med Tech or Med Tech Specialist in a CAP/CLIA-accredited hospital or clinical laboratory performing clinical flow cytometry
• Familiarity with BD FACSCanto II and FACSLyric instruments and FCS Express software
• Required licensure and certifications: California: CLS:CA, Nevada: CLS:NV or GS:NV, North Dakota: MT-L:ND, Tennessee: MT-L:TN, Georgia: MT ASCP or equivalent certification
• Preferred licensure and certifications: Clinical Laboratory departments: MT or CLS or MLS certification, ASCP or equivalent; Pathology Laboratory department: CT or HTL certification required, ASCP or equivalent
