Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates effective communication between patients and healthcare providers during consultations:
    o Gathers and relays essential information to the provider.
    o Follows directives from the provider promptly.
  • Prepares patients for appointments, which includes rooming patients, taking and documenting vital signs, reviewing intake forms, retrieving imaging results, preparing necessary materials, and accurately entering information into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
  • Coordinates consultations and procedures as needed.
  • Provides guidance to patients regarding procedures.
  • Contacts potential candidates through designated platforms.
  • Handles billing for corporate patients through the appropriate channels.
  • Registers all scheduled procedures in the designated registry.
  • Addresses inquiries related to self-pay procedures.
  • Orders necessary supplies.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, ensuring they are restocked and sanitized as required.
  • Monitors and replaces biohazard and sharps containers as necessary.
  • Responds to voicemails within a timely manner and documents actions in the EMR system.
  • Processes laboratory tests as required.
  • Manages inventory of medical supplies and ensures proper maintenance of equipment.
  • Scans clinical documents into the EMR system.
  • Prints daily schedules for service.
  • Ensures patients receive appropriate education regarding their medical treatments and therapies as directed by the provider.
  • Promotes a positive experience for patients.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program is preferred.
  • One to two years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • If lacking experience, must possess CMA certification.
  • Must pass the MA competency exam within the first two years of employment.
  • Must obtain at least one of the following active certifications within the first two years: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), as per state regulations.
  • BLS certification is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical office procedures, insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software is essential.
  • Effective communication skills with physicians, staff, patients, and the public are required.
  • Knowledge of healthcare practices and patient care is necessary.
  • Understanding of back-office operations and patient confidentiality, including HIPAA regulations, is crucial.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly with medical software, are required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team is necessary.
