Position Overview

Avery Dennison is seeking a dedicated PSM (Process Safety Management) Engineer for our Performance Tapes Facility. This role involves the development, implementation, and leadership of compliance initiatives related to key regulatory programs concerning PSM. The successful candidate will prioritize and execute safety and efficiency projects, encompassing both process modifications and capital projects. Reporting to the Regional Technical Manager, the responsibilities include:
  • Adhering to all health, safety, and housekeeping protocols, ensuring a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
  • Championing safety by actively engaging and influencing team members on the significance of safe practices.
  • Integrating environmental, health, and safety management systems with engineering documentation and schedules to uphold safe operational conditions and regulatory compliance.
  • Overseeing the Management of Change (MOCs) program.
  • Conducting Safety Reviews and Process Hazard Analyses.
  • Evaluating solvent-based operations and projects for compliance with the PSM program.
  • Leading the solvent process by reviewing mechanical and electrical schematics, procedures, and safety policies.
  • Acting as a liaison during audit activities.
  • Guiding the site Process Safety steering team to develop and implement projects aimed at enhancing the PSM program.
  • Creating and monitoring leading indicators to assess the health of the site PSM program.
  • Designing and delivering training programs related to PSM, PHA's, Management of Change, and other relevant topics.
Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a mechanical or technical field is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in developing training materials and conducting effective employee training.
  • Capability to create and modify Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to interact with all organizational levels, from operational staff to leadership.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and report writing skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant software systems, including Autocad/ChemCAD/ASPEN, MS Office, Google Collaboration tools, and other function-specific software.
Preferred:
  • Experience in facilities adhering to the OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard.
  • Knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEPs).
  • Understanding of Reliability-Centered Maintenance Programs.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Administration of EHS programs.
