Job Overview

A Senior Test Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in the design, development, and execution of automated testing strategies aimed at achieving optimal software quality and performance. This position utilizes Azure DevOps (ADO), Azure services, and CI/CD methodologies, with a strong focus on integrating quality standards and quality gates through tools like SonarQube or similar technologies. The successful candidate will set best practices and spearhead the quality assurance initiatives within the organization.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Test Automation and Strategy Formulation
    1. Create, develop, and sustain automated test scripts leveraging Microsoft technologies.
    2. Enhance and refine test automation frameworks to facilitate continuous testing.
    3. Guarantee extensive test coverage across functional, regression, performance, and security testing.
  2. CI/CD Integration
    1. Embed automated tests within the Azure DevOps (ADO) CI/CD pipeline.
    2. Set up and manage test plans, test cases, and test suites in ADO.
    3. Utilize SonarQube (or equivalent) to establish quality benchmarks and quality gates, ensuring code integrity and compliance.
  3. Establishing Best Practices
    1. Define and implement best practices for test automation and quality assurance.
    2. Develop standards and guidelines for coding, testing, and documentation.
    3. Guide and mentor junior team members on methodologies and best practices.
  4. Quality Assurance Leadership
    1. Lead the development of a robust quality assurance framework within the organization.
    2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and uphold quality standards.
    3. Conduct regular assessments and audits to ensure compliance with quality practices.
  5. Collaboration and Communication
    1. Engage closely with developers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to comprehend application requirements and ensure thorough test coverage.
    2. Communicate testing outcomes and findings to development teams and collaborate on resolving issues.
    3. Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospective meetings to synchronize testing efforts with the development cycle.
  6. Monitoring and Reporting
    1. Oversee automated test execution and report on test results, coverage, and quality metrics.
    2. Employ SonarQube to evaluate code quality and generate analytical reports.
    3. Provide regular updates and insights to senior management regarding testing activities and quality status.
  7. Continuous Improvement
    1. Identify opportunities for enhancing test automation processes and frameworks.
    2. Stay informed about the latest industry trends and advancements in test automation.
    3. Continuously explore and implement new tools and technologies to boost test automation efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in test automation, specifically with Microsoft technologies and Azure DevOps.
Credentials:
  • Relevant certifications in test automation, Microsoft technologies, or Azure are highly valued.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C#, Python, or JavaScript.
  • Extensive experience with test automation tools and frameworks like Selenium, SpecFlow, or Microsoft Playwright.
  • Strong understanding of Azure DevOps (ADO), including pipelines, test plans, and repositories.
  • Expertise in Azure services and cloud environments.
  • Experience with SonarQube for code quality assessment and establishing quality gates.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to design comprehensive test cases and identify edge scenarios.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven track record of leading and mentoring development teams.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
