About the Position

The Homeless Support Advocate will be working directly with individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Chittenden County. This is a full-time position that requires a minimum of one year of prior experience in direct service work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work directly with individuals and families staying in emergency motel/hotel shelters and day centers.
  • Provide direct assistance to clients to develop a housing plan for transition to stable housing.
  • Support clients in accessing additional services and supports in the local community.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with clients and motel staff.
  • Collaborate closely with referral agencies regarding eligibility determination and verification.
Requirements
  • A minimum of a high school degree or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in social work, education, human services, counseling, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of prior experience in direct service work is required; two years of experience plus relevant coursework is preferred.
  • Candidates with experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness and crisis intervention are preferred.
  • Ability to work with individuals with mental health, medical, substance abuse, domestic and sexual violence experiences, and employment issues is required.
Compensation and Benefits

This hourly, full-time position offers an estimated salary of $23.00/hour.
