Position Summary:
We are currently in search of a full-time Patient Service Representative for our internal medicine office. The representative will be responsible for a variety of essential tasks, including:
- Answering incoming calls and addressing patient inquiries.
- Scheduling and managing patient appointments.
- Welcoming patients upon arrival and facilitating check-in procedures.
- Collecting co-payments and verifying insurance details.
- Registering patients into our system and ensuring accurate check-out processes.
- Coordinating follow-up visits as necessary.
- Balancing financial transactions and verifying orders at the end of the day.
This role requires a proactive and positive demeanor, as the Patient Service Representative is often the first point of contact for patients. It is crucial to maintain a friendly and professional office atmosphere at all times.
Qualifications:
Preferred candidates will possess formal training, typically indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least one year of experience in a public-facing role, ideally within a healthcare environment.
Essential Skills:
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Understanding of various health insurance plans, including HMO and PPO.
- Ability to identify priority or emergency calls.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, particularly in handling difficult situations.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Proficiency in a Windows-based computer system.
