Job Title: Nurse - Substance Abuse Specialist

The Ark of DC is seeking a skilled Nurse - Substance Abuse Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide direct nursing care to patients diagnosed with substance use disorder.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct nursing care to patients diagnosed with substance use disorder.
  • Coordinate with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver comprehensive care.
  • Deliver education and support to consumers concerning overdose risk, smoking cessation, and medication side effects.
  • Provide direct clinical services, including medication intakes and follow-up.
  • Assess and prioritize consumer care needs.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate consumer progress.
  • Collaborate with psychiatry and other healthcare staff to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements:
  • Registered Nurse Degree.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Social Work or Human Services and four years of experience in an alcohol or other drug or mental health setting.
  • Combination of comparable skills, experience, and education.
  • Strong interpersonal, engagement, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to support the organization's mission and philosophy and demonstrate sensitivity to cultural diversity and organizational harmony.
