Position Overview:

The Clinical Assistant plays a crucial role in delivering patient care within a clinical environment while also managing various administrative responsibilities.

This part-time position requires a commitment of .8 FTE, working four days a week during daytime hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, organize, and maintain cleanliness of examination rooms.
  • Assist in patient rooming and preparation for examinations.
  • Ensure a smooth and efficient clinical workflow.
  • Collect and verify essential patient information and compile medical data.
  • Support documentation of patient information in the electronic health records system.
  • Assist with injections, dressing changes, application of durable medical equipment, and removal of sutures/staples under the supervision of a healthcare provider.
  • Manage the application and removal of casts.
  • Adhere to coding requirements during patient information entry.
  • Act as a prescribing delegate to input medical orders into the computerized provider order entry (CPOE) system under direct supervision.
  • Provide support across multiple specialties as needed.
  • Assist Care Coordinators with patient care services and manage medical supply inventory and ordering.
  • Screen patient calls and respond promptly, documenting all communications in the patient's electronic chart.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Athletic Trainer (AT-C), or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred, along with relevant experience.
  • Previous clinic experience is required; experience in orthopedics is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology is essential.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments is preferred.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to complete Certified Provider Order Entry (CPOE) training upon hire if necessary.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethical guidelines.
  • Complete required training and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Work efficiently in a clinical setting during business hours.
  • Travel independently within the clinic, which may involve physical activity such as bending, lifting, and prolonged periods of standing or sitting.
  • Maintain a productive pace while managing interruptions and meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with patients and team members.
  • Prioritize tasks while remaining flexible to meet operational needs.
  • Apply logical thinking to solve problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Execute a variety of instructions accurately.
  • Operate equipment and manage phone communications effectively.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to travel to other locations as required.
