Job Title: Site Supervisor

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Site Supervisor to lead our childcare programs. As a Site Supervisor, you will be responsible for providing a supportive and respectful environment for children, supervising a team of Assistant Teachers, and ensuring the smooth operation of our programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide supervision to designated program staff, including scheduling, personnel actions, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date child and staff files.
  • Work with the supervisor to complete Corrective Actions related to OEC inspections.
  • Ensure staff complete all training requirements.
  • Maintain a safe, healthy, and inviting environment in accordance with licensing regulations and YWCA health and safety standards.
  • Follow defined State and YWCA protocols for reporting suspect child abuse or neglect.
  • Establish staff schedules and contingency staffing plans to ensure adherence to state-mandated staff-to-child ratios.
  • Work with the staff team to develop short- and long-term goals for maintaining a high-quality program.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff, families, peers, and associates.
  • Establish a culture where children and staff show respect and feel respected.
  • Provide constant supervision and oversight of children while engaged in activities.
  • Implement appropriate behavior and discipline as defined by the YWCA and/or school rules.
  • Lead the site staff in developing and implementing curriculum to meet the physical, emotional, and intellectual needs of each child.
  • Ensure appropriate classroom behavior management and implement individual Inclusion Support Plans.
  • Order equipment and supplies in accordance with YWCA financial guidelines.
  • Work with site staff to establish a predictable daily schedule and ensure the delivery of snacks and health and sanitation of snack time.
  • Maintain student and family information in a confidential manner.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly program space.
  • Monitor outside play space to ensure it is safe, clean, and well-maintained.
  • Administer First Aid/CPR and medication in accordance with Office of Early Childhood and YWCA policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to staff in the delivery of high-quality programs and services.
  • Facilitate effective communication between staff and families in the resolution of issues or concerns.
  • Implement and monitor the consistent application of defined YWCA statements, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend monthly Site Supervisor meetings.
  • Hold documented regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Model a degree of professional decorum and dress appropriate to the program's mission and values.
  • Remain current with trends, development, and best practices in the field of child care and early childhood education.
Requirements:
  • 12 credits in ECE or higher, degree in ECE or related field.
  • Meet requirements to be certified as a Head Teacher through the State of Connecticut, Connecticut Charts-A-Course.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of child development.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop age-appropriate exhibits and activities for the classroom.
  • CPR/First Aid certified or certification within two months of employment.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
  • Must be able to successfully pass both OEC and criminal background checks.
  • Physical requirements upon hire.
