Job Summary

Ably Resources is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geoscientist to lead the technical assessment of our assets. As a key member of our exploration team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality geoscience evaluations to support corporate acquisitions and new ventures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Geologic Structure and Map Creation: Develop subsurface geologic structure and isopach maps using well control and engineering data to inform exploration and development decisions.
  • Multi-Disciplinary Approach: Provide insights into the integration of geoscience, engineering, and seismic data to optimize exploration and production strategies.
  • Geophysical Structure and Map Development: Create subsurface geophysical structure, amplitude, and isopach maps using 2D and 3D seismic data to identify potential exploration and development opportunities.
  • Data Integration and Map Generation: Integrate subsurface geologic, engineering, and seismic data to generate final maps and reports that inform business decisions.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with a diverse team to plan and execute work activities on operated and non-operated properties, ensuring effective project transitions and development.
  • Field Studies and Evaluation: Conduct detailed field studies to evaluate remaining development and exploration potential in existing fields, and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Project Evaluation and Support: Evaluate exploration, development, and workover potential on selected projects, and provide support in developing drilling budgets and strategies.
  • Geophysical Technology and Mentorship: Mentor and guide geologists on geophysical technologies and attributes beneficial for exploration projects, and stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Undertake other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Exploration Team, as required.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geosciences, or a related field (Master's Degree is a significant advantage).
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in the Gulf of Mexico, with a strong background in geology or geoscience.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact positively with colleagues and stakeholders. Familiarity with tools like Kingdom interpretation system, Petra, RIO, MMRA, SAAM, Lexco Owl is beneficial. Exceptional expertise in geology or geoscience, encompassing structural and stratigraphic interpretation and prospect generation. Proficiency in mapping applications on 3D interpretation systems, and proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
