Job Summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for collecting diagnostic information through the administration of radioactive materials and utilizing advanced imaging equipment. This role collaborates closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care and efficient diagnostic procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Nuclear Medicine examinations promptly, document necessary information, and communicate relevant details to the primary physician and care team.
  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with technologists, physicians, nurses, and allied health staff.
  • Assess patient conditions to perform radiology exams effectively.
  • Explain procedures to patients and outline expectations for their cooperation.
  • Deliver comprehensive direct patient care while ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
  • Consult with team members as needed to address patient and family needs.
  • Ensure the availability and safe use of clinical equipment and supplies, performing Point of Care procedures in accordance with established protocols.
  • Document required information and adhere to all quality control standards.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate Degree in a relevant field.
  • Graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program or equivalent. Certification from NMTCB and/or ARRT (N) is required.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Certification as a Medical Radiologic Technologist by the Texas Medical Board.
  • Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board or equivalent.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
