Job Summary
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist is responsible for acquiring diagnostic information using radioactive materials administered intravenously, along with advanced radiation detection and imaging equipment. This role collaborates closely with healthcare team members to ensure exceptional patient care and efficient diagnostic processes while upholding the highest standards of safety and cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist include:
- Conducting Nuclear Medicine examinations in line with established protocols.
- Administering prescribed radioactive materials to patients in compliance with regulations.
- Ensuring safety measures for radioactive materials for staff and patients.
- Explaining procedures to patients prior to examinations.
- Demonstrating proficiency with Nuclear Medicine equipment.
- Maintaining accurate documentation regarding radioactive materials.
- Performing regular surveys of work areas and patient rooms.
- Coordinating outpatient exams with assigned physicians.
- Adhering to infection control and radiation safety guidelines.
Qualifications
To qualify for the Nuclear Medicine Technologist position, candidates should possess:
- An Associate Degree and completion of a Nuclear Medicine Program.
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine Technology or as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
- State licensure as a Radiological Technologist.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within a specified timeframe.
