Job Summary

We are seeking a General Manager of Service Operations in Pleasant Hills, PA. This position is responsible for operational and sales leadership within the PA Service Group.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide overall leadership for the PA Service Group, ensuring department and company goals align.
  • Implement programs to meet or exceed corporate objectives in revenue, sales, margin, and operating income.
  • Manage service operations according to an approved financial plan, including operating expenses, accounts receivable/collections, manpower, and inventory.
  • Seek out and complete bid/sales opportunities through client relationships, network opportunities, public/private postings, assigned bid opportunities, etc.
  • Support and direct employees on safety practices and hazard communication in bidding processes.
  • Ensure all aspects of service/project work are met safely, on/under budget, and on time.
  • Monitor progress towards annual goals and adjust execution.
  • Ensure contractual obligations are met and actively participate in resolving customer problems.
  • Plan a growth strategy and carry it out efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to the department, including mentoring and coaching, individual development plans, setting goals and priorities for individuals.
  • Ensure effective performance measures are assigned, and employees are motivated to achieve and exceed objectives in a professional, timely, and quality manner.
  • Organize and develop an effective team to efficiently deliver service and grow the business.
  • Responsible for finding quality individuals who possess the necessary skills, knowledge, and experience required for any open jobs.
  • Identify areas where training and development will enhance the opportunity to meet current and future business needs.
  • Determine and implement opportunities for margin enhancement and manage department budget.
  • Develop growth strategies for the department with the President and CEO, driving expansion of sales and customer base.
  • Remain aware of the competition in the marketplace and be ready to react accordingly to changes.
  • Aid and assist in preparation of estimates/proposals, supporting and mentoring direct reports or other employees as needed.
  • Report on WIP (work in progress/forecasting) statistics at monthly financial meetings.
  • Promote a team atmosphere and build loyalty for the company.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with current clients, responsible for creating relationships with potential future clients.
  • Oversee Service Managers, Sales Representatives, and provide guidance for field operations.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or trade school certificate is a must. A Bachelor of Science in management or mechanical engineering is a plus.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of practical facility management and operations experience in the Mechanical Industry is required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a maintenance administrative capacity, to include preventive maintenance and plant operation procedures, manpower utilization, energy management and conservation, and contract management, is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work with management systems and a variety of professional, administrative, and industry personnel.
  • Previous sales experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industry standard practices for preventive maintenance is required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Must be organized, detailed, and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to adapt to ever-changing priorities.
