About the Role

Dewberry is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Planning Specialist to join our Planning Department in Parsippany, NJ. As an Environmental Planning Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting our clients in the assessment of environmental impacts of infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and perform environmental impact studies, including NEPA/SEQRA/CEQR, MEPA, and CEPA documents, and sustainability planning for urban infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct extensive research, data collection, analysis, and preparation of written technical documentation pertaining to land use, policy, demographics, including Environmental Justice populations, hazard, risk, and vulnerability, transportation, and transit.
  • Write and develop comprehensive planning documents and sustainability strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with other Subject Matter Experts to complete comprehensive environmental documents and prepare ULURP applications.
  • Coordinate with federal, state, and local officials, community groups, academia, private sector, and public stakeholders in developing plans.
  • Assist with planning and facilitating meetings, workshops, stakeholder outreach, public meetings, and open houses.
  • Develop graphics and templates associated with written plans and reports.
  • Experience with environmental and transportation data gathering, analysis, and presentation.
  • Experience with MS Office suite, InDesign, data visualization, and electronic survey tools desirable.
  • Experience with GIS a plus.
Requirements
  • BS or BA in planning, environmental studies, or a related field; MS preferred.
  • 7-10 years of regional environmental planning experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication and data management/visualization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and customer focus.
  • Ability to be self-motivated and function both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Well-developed time management skills, especially the ability to complete high-quality, detail-oriented deliverables on tight timelines amid competing deadlines within a diverse work group.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, resourcefulness, and tact in obtaining and analyzing information.
  • Experience researching, planning, and developing plans, policies, procedures, and/or guidance.
  • Ability to synthesize, analyze, and organize complex information into a clear and coherent description.
