The Financial Member Support Specialist serves as a reliable financial ally, assisting members in developing prudent financing strategies and establishing savings objectives to effectively manage their daily banking needs, ultimately fostering financial wellness. In this position, adherence to legal, regulatory, and compliance standards specific to the role is crucial, including familiarity with the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering regulations, OFAC guidelines, and Information Security protocols. The specialist is required to complete annual compliance and security training as mandated by Harborstone Credit Union's policies.

Compensation:

Minimum: $21.47
Maximum: $30.67

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and make informed recommendations regarding lending, deposit, and service charge requests, balancing member needs with the cooperative's objectives.
  • Engage in effective communication through various channels, including in-person interactions, phone calls, and emails.
  • Handle member inquiries and follow up with potential clients to secure their business.
  • Participate in branch promotional activities as assigned.
  • Assist with operational tasks within the branch.
  • Conduct general account maintenance, ensuring accuracy and up-to-date member information.
  • Address basic transactional needs to enhance the member experience.
  • Manage member concerns and understand the escalation process when necessary.
  • Maintain a foundational knowledge of all consumer and business-related products and services to provide effective referrals.
  • Perform teller transactions while adhering to prescribed cash limits and balancing requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Exhibit strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, utilizing resources effectively to meet member needs.
  • Possess knowledge of credit card products and the ability to identify member needs and process applications.
  • Be familiar with consumer loans and preapproval offers, capable of guiding members through applications and processes.
  • Have a solid understanding of mortgage products and services, with the ability to refer members appropriately.
  • Demonstrate behaviors aligned with Member Experience expectations and utilize relevant tools.
  • Support training initiatives within branch teams as applicable.
  • Understand notary processes, medallion stamps, and signature guarantee services.
  • Leverage external financial educational resources to enhance member support.
  • Familiarity with Harborstone's partnerships and processes with Business Partners/Vendors/CUSOs.
  • Comprehend Harborstone's 5-Year Strategic Plan, annual Business Plan, and Thematic Goals, along with the strategies needed for cooperative success.
  • Actively cultivate a growth mindset for personal and professional development.
  • Utilize key strengths to contribute to the overall success of the cooperative.

Experience and Education:

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possess or obtain a Notary license to provide services for members.
  • Complete NMLS training and maintain knowledge of mortgage processes and products.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Any combination of education and experience that equips the applicant with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for the role.
