Job Description

Job Title: Software Management SME

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Management SME to join our team at KBR. As a Software Management SME, you will be responsible for providing software program management support to the C-5M Galaxy Division risk management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supports C-5M software activities across the broad range of C-5M programs and acquisition/sustainment processes.
  • Performs analyses of operational and/or programmatic issues, including software-related developmental and maintenance issues, software process enhancements, and development of appropriate risk management plans.
  • Participates in program Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings, technical reviews, technical interchange meetings, and teleconferences/telecons.
  • Assists in developing/documenting software development and/or maintenance strategies that integrate current policy, project, and/or program requirements, test evaluation framework(s), and schedules to accomplish program goals.
  • Translates technical and operational requirements to support software development, acquisition, and/or maintenance planning efforts.
  • Develops and/or maintains metrics used to assess software development progress.
  • Develops software test approaches utilizing Agile principles.
  • Ensures that program/project stakeholders are enabled to make technically informed, objective programmatic judgments about software-related operational, maintenance, and development issues.
  • Supports planning, coordination, and execution of software test activities.
  • Develops and implements Agile software constructs (such as scrum meetings, Concept of Operations (CONOPS), sprint planning, etc.) to ensure proper alignment between program office, contractors, and organic software partners.
  • Develops software roadmaps to align C-5 modernization and upgrade software planning with software maintenance cycles.
  • Develops draft software-related technical and/or programmatic documents supporting C-5M software acquisition and/or software maintenance activities.
  • Provides advice and counsel on current software engineering and management practices and methodologies, particularly as relates to such activities as Agile software development and digital engineering initiatives.

Requirements:

  • At least 10 years of experience directly related to the position.
  • Comprehensive experience and knowledge of current USAF software engineering processes, policies, and procedures to include experience with Software Acquisition Pathway with a focus on minimal viable product releases.
  • Experience supporting ACAT I/II/III acquisition programs.
  • Candidate must possess experience transitioning from traditional waterfall development to Agile methodologies.
  • Candidate must possess the ability to work well as part of a team and with minimal supervision.
  • Key management skills required: Problem Solving, Critical and Creative Thinking, Conflict resolution, Multi-Tasking, Clear and well-organized communication skills (written, verbal, and active listening), Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications, Ability to develop well-organized and credible presentations and formal written documents.
  • Ability to travel out of local area 5-10% of calendar year if needed.

Education: Bachelors Degree in engineering, science, business administration, or equivalent experience.

Security Clearance Requirement: Possession and maintenance of a Secret security clearance is required.

Citizenship: Individuals in this position must be a US citizen.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience transitioning from traditional waterfall development to Agile methodologies within a DoD organization is highly desired.
  • PMI-Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) (or equivalent) certified is highly desired.
  • Experience implementing Agile techniques in support of software development and maintenance projects.
  • 20+ years experience in DoD technical program planning and implementation, contract interpretation, budget development, and administration of government projects.
  • Relevant DAWIA certification in program management and/or engineering.
  • Knowledge of and experience working under DoD 5000.02 and AFLCMC Policies, Processes, and Procedures is highly desired.
  • Experience at multiple Air Force or DoD centers.
