The Academy Charter School is seeking a highly qualified Middle School Special Education Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support
  • Provide direct instruction and support to students in a variety of settings, including classrooms and small group settings
  • Assess student progress and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners
  • Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to ensure a collaborative approach to student support
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and implement research-based strategies to support student learning
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; Master's degree preferred
  • New York State Special Education certification required
  • Experience working with at-risk student populations preferred
  • Knowledge of childhood development and ability to execute planned lessons to meet the differential needs of each child
