Position Overview:
The Senior Claims Adjuster is a pivotal role responsible for managing intricate claims within designated authority limits while providing essential support to the claims department. Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluating and settling complex to severe claims, encompassing all stages of litigation.
- Independently drafting detailed coverage correspondence, including reservation of rights and denial notifications.
- Assessing and interpreting claim documentation and legal submissions.
- Implementing best practices in litigation to steer defense strategies on litigated cases.
- Providing mentorship to junior Claims Examiners and Associate Claims Examiners.
- Utilizing extensive expertise to achieve favorable claim resolutions through investigation, negotiation, and alternative dispute resolution methods.
- Recognizing emerging risks and claim patterns.
- Identifying potentially fraudulent claims and coordinating with the special investigations unit.
- Meticulously documenting claim files with all pertinent information, correspondence, and notes in alignment with company policies and regulatory standards.
- Creating and delivering training content for the claims team and underwriters as needed.

The team is empowered to handle claims autonomously, ensuring fair and swift resolutions for clients and partners. With a focus on growth, the Claims team is committed to achieving profitability while upholding The Ladders' strong reputation built on a legacy of exemplary claims management.
- 8+ years of experience in claims management, particularly in General Liability and Bodily Injury.
- A Juris Doctor degree from an ABA accredited law school may complement claims management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to positively influence complex claims outcomes through thorough investigation and effective litigation leadership.
- In-depth knowledge of coverage within the specialty area and a strong understanding of the litigation process and negotiation techniques.
- Experience in guiding and training fellow claims examiners.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical capabilities; a B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution is preferred.
