Job Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for administering the entire payroll function to generate the City of Highland Park Illinois' bi-weekly payroll. This position performs detail-orientated clerical, bookkeeping, accounting, and administrative work to provide financial support to the Finance Director and other departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll transactions and ensure accurate and timely payment to employees
  • Manage payroll records and maintain confidentiality of employee information
  • Collaborate with the Finance Director to develop and implement payroll policies and procedures
  • Provide customer service to employees and management regarding payroll-related inquiries
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting or related field preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in payroll administration or related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
