Fulcrum Construction is in search of a motivated and energetic Traveling Field Operations Manager to oversee our projects. Fulcrum Construction is a nationwide commercial general contractor with a focus on the retail sector. Projects can range from $1M to $10M, encompassing site development, new construction, tenant improvements, and remodels of operational stores. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in ground-up construction and site development. The ideal candidate will independently manage daily project operations in the field, providing strong leadership and effective communication with project managers and stakeholders to ensure successful project execution. The Field Operations Manager is accountable for all onsite quality assurance, safety protocols, and schedule adherence.

Field Operations Managers are essential to our organization. A competent Field Operations Manager is crucial for the success of our projects. We recognize their importance, and our low turnover rate reflects our commitment to their well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the timely completion of projects, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, and local regulations.
  • Oversee all facets of the onsite construction project from initiation to final inspections.
  • Manage onsite personnel to ensure project progression aligns with contract documents and timelines.
  • Develop and communicate three-week look-ahead schedules based on the master schedule.
  • Ensure subcontractors are executing their contracted responsibilities effectively.
  • Identify and address conflicts in construction progress with the project team.
  • Lead weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Participate actively in the subcontracting process.
  • Assist in the issuance of Owner Change Orders.
  • Initiate and submit Requests for Information (RFIs) as needed.
  • Develop a site logistics plan and conduct orientation meetings with all workers.
  • Review and understand material budgets.
  • Negotiate and finalize purchase orders for onsite necessities.
  • Approve invoices for specific job cost codes.
  • Document and uphold quality control and safety standards.
  • Track material deliveries and manage change orders.
  • Develop and implement job-specific safety programs and procedures.
  • Coordinate jobsite meetings with owners, subcontractors, and Fulcrum team members.
  • Lead safety programs onsite, including conducting weekly toolbox talks.
  • Review and approve all subcontractor submittals and shop drawings.
  • Document all job site activities through daily reports.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 10 years of experience in the commercial construction industry, with a minimum of 5 years as a project superintendent managing projects of similar size and scope.
  • Demonstrated experience in complex site work and ground-up construction.
  • Proficient in reading plans, construction design, and understanding building regulations.
  • Ability to interpret and process construction documents (plans, specifications, safety manuals, etc.).
  • Familiarity with standard construction software applications.
  • Strong understanding of building processes and best practices.
  • Skilled in estimating and scheduling.
  • OSHA-30 certification required.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification required.
