Aquatics Supervisor Opportunity at Highlands Recreation District

**Job Summary:**

The Aquatics Supervisor at Highlands Recreation District is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pool and aquatics programs. This role involves managing a team of lifeguards, swim instructors, swim team coaches, fitness instructors, contractors, and volunteers.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • **Leadership and Management:**
    • Provide guidance and direction to staff members to achieve desired outcomes and ensure the well-being of the District.
    • Recruit, train, and support staff members for effective performance.
  • **Pool and Facility Management:**
    • Maintain the pool and related equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
    • Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of aquatic facilities.
  • **Budget and Financial Management:**
    • Manage the budget and financial objectives of the aquatics program.
  • **Communication and Marketing:**
    • Communicate efficiently with all stakeholders, including staff, customers, and community members.
    • Promote and oversee aquatic programs and rentals.
    • Create and implement a marketing strategy for aquatics.
  • **Safety and Compliance:**
    • Ensure safety and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • **Long-Term Planning:**
    • Plan for the long-term maintenance of pool facilities.
  • **Community Engagement:**
    • Assess community needs and adjust programs accordingly.

**Requirements:**

  • Knowledge of pool maintenance practices.
  • Experience in leadership and scheduling.
  • Ability to manage budgets and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Familiarity with American Red Cross courses.
  • Problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Minimum of three years of aquatics experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.

**Additional Qualifications:**

  • Valid CA Driver's license.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (or equivalent).
  • Department of Justice clearance.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
  • CPO or AFO certification or ability to recertify.

**Physical Demands:**

Visual and auditory alertness in emergency situations, ability to engage in physical activities, and lift objects up to 20 pounds.

**Environmental Conditions:**

Work in an outdoor pool environment with exposure to various weather conditions; ability to handle wet and slippery surfaces.

  • Flexibility to undertake other tasks as needed.
  • This role involves supervision of minors.
  • Job responsibilities may evolve over time based on organizational needs.
