Position Overview:

The Patient Care Coordinator is the initial point of interaction for individuals visiting the outpatient facility. This role involves welcoming and registering patients, confirming their details, arranging appointments, and maintaining the Electronic Health Record (EHR). The coordinator assists with intake processes, including the completion of healthcare and insurance documentation, as well as collecting payments for services rendered. Establishing trust and collaboration with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals is essential through proficient job execution and effective communication. Compliance with all organizational, local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures is crucial to ensure patient privacy and safety while providing exceptional care. This position may also include specific responsibilities and training for new staff members within the department.

Job Description:

EDUCATION:

  • Equivalent experience may be considered in place of the required degree or diploma.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Fundamental understanding of insurance policies and patient billing procedures.
  • Aptitude for interpreting various forms of data and instructions, whether written, oral, diagrammatic, or scheduled.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with team members, supervisors, patients, and other healthcare personnel.
  • Well-honed time management and organizational abilities, including the capacity to prioritize tasks and operate within established policies and procedures to meet objectives and deadlines.
  • General proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
  • Skill in identifying, assessing, and resolving standard issues by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
  • Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of each patient's Protected Health Information (PHI).
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships with colleagues and other staff members to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
