Role: Clinical Assistant (Orthodontic/Dental Assistant)

Job Type: Non-exempt

Reports To: Doctor & Practice Manager

Description: Clinical Assistants are vital in supporting Orthodontists, ensuring that patients are well-informed about orthodontic procedures and aftercare. They assist in preparations, sterilization of instruments, and adjustments of braces, all under the supervision of the Orthodontist. Their goal is to create meaningful connections with each patient, ensuring a personalized experience for everyone.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Assist in the placement and removal of orthodontic appliances
  • Perform X-Rays/Scans, create molds, and take impressions for retainers
  • Document patient progress through photography
  • Maintain accurate oral health and treatment records
  • Ensure proper sterilization of instruments and equipment
  • Treat patients with the utmost respect, providing a memorable experience
  • Prepare for procedures, set up instruments, and assist in keeping patients comfortable
  • Report any concerns regarding patient progress to the Orthodontist
  • Educate patients (and parents) on oral hygiene and braces care
  • Learn and proficiently use EMR systems
  • Coordinate scheduling with team and patients
  • Assist in front office tasks when needed
  • Adjust patient braces and bands as directed
  • Accompany patients from the waiting area to the chair, engaging in conversation

Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer proficiency
  • Flexible availability
Preferred Requirements:
  • RDA and/or CA Certification
  • Associate's Degree in a related field
  • CPR Certification
  • 1-2 years of recent dental experience
