Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Process Chemical Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Creating and revising Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Interlock Narratives.
  • Leading and facilitating process improvement projects, maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting efforts.
  • Conducting Process Hazard Analyses for both new and existing operations.
  • Resolving issues related to processes, instrumentation, and equipment to support production.
  • Developing Process Flow Diagrams and conducting Heat and Material Balances.
  • Performing essential calculations for process design, including relief, pump sizing, and heat transfer.
  • Estimating costs for new and existing products and defining scopes for capital projects.
  • Providing on-site support during startup and commissioning activities.
  • Assisting with I/O, interlock checks, and preventive maintenance shutdowns.
  • Offering technical support on-call and collaborating with customers and suppliers on technical matters.
  • Documenting and updating necessary procedures and training operators as required.
  • Mentoring junior Process Chemical Engineers.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing Process Flow Diagrams and Heat and Material Balances.
  • Familiarity with Process Chemical Design or support for manufacturing operations.
  • Expertise in Piping and Instrumentation Diagram development.
  • Experience with Hazard Analysis methodologies such as HAZOP, PHA, and FMEA.
  • Willingness to be on-call as needed (on a rotating basis).

Preferred Qualifications

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • A Professional Engineering License (PE) in Tennessee or Virginia.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with Control Systems, particularly Siemens PCS7.
  • Background in managing major capital projects exceeding $1M.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time position with a competitive salary range of $128,340. Please note that this range is based on market pay structures, and individual salaries are influenced by various factors, including business considerations, local market conditions, and candidate qualifications.
