Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and visitors with a warm and professional demeanor.
- Utilize the NextGen computer system to check patients in and out, ensuring accurate verification of demographic and insurance information.
- Address patient inquiries and concerns with confidentiality and compassion.
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace, adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Schedule, confirm, and adjust patient appointments efficiently.
- Verify and update patient demographic and insurance data in the Electronic Practice Management System (EPM) to facilitate timely billing.
- Ensure necessary consents are obtained and documented in EPM.
- Conduct eligibility assessments for various programs, including Medicaid for Pregnant Women and the Family Planning Benefit Program.
- Assist patients in completing insurance forms and gathering required documentation.
- Process payments and inform clients of any outstanding financial obligations.
- Provide emergency contraceptives and birth control supplies in accordance with company policies.
- Review charges for accuracy and completeness, entering visit records into EPM.
- Adhere to cash handling procedures and manage medical records requests as directed.
Accountability:
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all patients and visitors.
- Travel to various sites as needed to ensure continuity of service.
- Participate in compliance and quality management initiatives.
- Engage in staff meetings and contribute to training efforts for new employees.
- Embrace individual and collective responsibility for achieving organizational goals.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience: 1-3 years in healthcare or medical billing preferred; customer service experience is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to handle sensitive client information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and ability to navigate multiple computer systems.
- Flexibility to work varying schedules and travel to different locations as required.
- Commitment to serving diverse populations and understanding their unique needs.
Physical Requirements: Must possess the mobility to perform essential functions with or without accommodation.
Compensation: The salary for this position ranges from $16.50 to $19.18 per hour, commensurate with experience. PPCWNY offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous Paid Time Off, medical, dental, and vision options, and a 401(k) plan with matching contributions.
