Job Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following locations: AZ, NC, or TX.

This position drives the development of cost-effective applications that address business needs while aligning with the Bank's long-term technology goals. The successful candidate will determine the needs of assigned business areas through partnership and strategic collaboration, translating needs into functional projects and technological solutions. They will oversee projects to produce effective results and maximize the return on investment, managing an annual budget, including forecasting, and developing a strong associate team.

The Director of Application Development and Support will lead and manage technology teams who are building world-class customer lifecycle management enterprise applications. They will lead the client lifecycle management technology team and work closely with the Product and Business leadership teams to drive overall product delivery. They will collaborate closely with teams across the organization to provide strategic direction and guidance related to the expansion of our client onboarding and maintenance functions across the commercial bank.

Responsibilities
  • Lead teams building dual-facing applications for both clients and agents.
  • Must have experience building and supporting enterprise-wide applications with automated dev/ops capabilities.
  • Experience in software development using AWS, Java, and UI JavaScript frameworks like React JS, Angular JS.
  • Experience integrating large vendor capabilities and solutions with AWS native applications.
  • Lead a team of 20+ talented software engineers, in multiple geographic locations.
  • Ensure team delivers with high quality and predictability.
  • Partner with Product managers and Delivery management in developing technology vision and delivery roadmap for our digital client lifecycle management.
  • Proactively champion the prioritization, management, planning, and road mapping for reliability, scalability, security, and extensibility with respect to a technical solution.
  • Mentor people inside/outside of the Software Engineering team on best practices, system design principles, and computing industry trends.
  • Articulate the tradeoffs at the application, system, and department level to the internal customer in a credible way during the whole lifecycle of the technology adoption through to decommission.
  • Nurture strong risk management, compliance, solution ownership, and pride of ownership within the team in the software delivery process.
  • Continuously demonstrate the ability to bring the benefits of technology to solve business issues while also managing costs and risks.
Requirements
  • Able to influence decisions at various levels.
  • Proven leadership with the ability to lead multiple teams in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Deep discipline and experience with Secure Software development.
  • Experience with enterprise architecture best practices, specifically in application, infrastructure, and web application security.
  • Deep understanding and experience working with DevSecOps.
  • Experience managing distributed/remote technology teams.
  • Experience leading enterprise development and support of applications spanning on-premise, cloud, and third-party solutions.
  • Familiarity with client lifecycle management to include onboarding, KCY practices, ongoing KYC reviews, and client offboarding.
  • Excellent technical abilities with strong business, organizational, and analytical skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Information Technology, including application development, support roles, and management. OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Information Technology, including application development, support roles, and management.
  • Required Skills:
    • Knowledge of information technology as it relates to managing development, principles, and practices.
    • Ability to manage and customize third-party solutions.
    • Managing vendor relationships to escalate and ensure support of ongoing business.
    • Ability to develop short-term and long-term plans to support business needs.
    • Ability to assess, acquire, and retain talent appropriately.
  • Preferred Area of Experience: Financial services with integration of third-party solutions in on-premise and cloud environments.
  • Preferred Skills:
    • 15+ years of experience in an engineering management and technology strategy leadership role.
    • 10+ years of experience leading, growing, and building global engineering teams.
    • Expertise/certifications with cloud technologies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
