Job Title: Backroom Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Backroom Associate to join our team at Goodwill Industries of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. As a Backroom Associate, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient processing and pricing of donations, as well as maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service to donors and customers, ensuring a positive experience at all times.
  • Direct vehicles and customers to the correct donation locations, greet donors, and provide information about Goodwill's donation policies, mission, and programs.
  • Receive, record, and sort donations to effectively process them through the Kaizen system, adhering to all guidelines and principles.
  • Work in various areas of the backroom, including soft goods production, hard goods production, donations, and more, as determined by management.
  • Meet company production standards and maintain accurate records of items processed.
  • Help drivers with loading and unloading trucks, identify high-end and/or collectible items for online sales, and clean and price items according to company standards.
  • Stock, merchandise, and maintain the sales floor to meet standards and guidelines, and place unsellable items into appropriate containers for salvage.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the successful operation of the department, team, and mission.
Requirements:
  • Excellent customer service skills and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Basic understanding of laws and regulations related to hazardous materials.
  • Honesty and reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating basis.
  • Knowledgeable about Goodwill's mission and services, and customer-related policies.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Prolonged periods of walking and standing (up to 8 hours).
  • Ability to lift/pull/push up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Ability to bend/squat/stoop, perform repetitive movements, and have visual acuity, color vision, and manual dexterity.
