Job Summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Instructional Aide to join our team. As an Instructional Aide, you will play a vital role in providing individualized supervision and instruction to assigned students, as well as additional support to the core classroom staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers in creating a safe and welcoming learning environment that fosters high expectations for student learning.
  • Implement on-site and community-based curriculum instruction and behavioral intervention strategies aligned with the goals and objectives of each student.
  • Instruct and monitor students during lessons in the classroom to ensure fidelity of instruction and utilize instructional strategies to assist with student learning.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students in accordance with specific timelines and communicate with the classroom teacher on overall progress or interventions needed.
  • Manage student behavior by upholding the Ombudsman philosophy and policies and applying appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Support and counsel students with academic issues, providing encouragement and working with students to improve their community, vocational, leisure, domestic, academic, and social skills.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation on student behavior as outlined by school procedures and report observations to relevant staff.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in an education or closely related field preferred.
  • Licensed as or have the ability to obtain a paraprofessional, paraeducator, teaching assistant or similar credential preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in an alternative or special education program setting.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with autism spectrum related disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders and/or challenging behaviors preferred.
