Job Summary

ChanceLight Behavioral Health, Therapy, & Education is seeking a Substitute Instructional Aide to provide individualized supervision and instruction to assigned students in a dynamic and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers in creating a safe and inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Implement curriculum instruction and behavioral intervention strategies to support student learning and development.
  • Monitor student progress and communicate with classroom teachers to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Manage student behavior and apply disciplinary measures as needed, while maintaining a positive and respectful approach.
  • Support students with academic issues and provide encouragement to improve their skills and knowledge.
  • Document student behavior and progress accurately and timely, and communicate with relevant staff as needed.
  • Participate in the assurance and accreditation process to ensure the site meets performance plans.
  • Attend school, student/parent, and student advisory meetings as requested.
  • Respond constructively to feedback and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent with passage of basic skills test.
  • Associate degree or higher in an education or closely related field preferred.
  • Licensed as or have the ability to obtain a paraprofessional, paraeducator, teaching assistant or similar credential preferred.
  • Prior experience working with children, preferably in an alternative or special education program setting.
  • Prior experience working with individuals with autism spectrum related disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders and/or challenging behaviors preferred.
  • Ability to think and act quickly and calmly in an emergency situation and make independent decisions.
  • Proficiency in providing motivation and having critical conversations with students that help move them toward realistic goals and next steps.
  • Advanced oral and written communication, organization, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem solving, and decision-making ability.
  • Knowledge of relevant technology including experience with instructional technology, Microsoft Office Suite, database entry and basic office equipment.
