Position Title: Commercial HVAC Installation Mechanic

Department: Commercial Services Division

Reporting To: Commercial Field Supervisor

Required Experience: Minimum of 5 years in HVAC installation

Job Purpose:

The primary responsibility of the Commercial HVAC Installation Mechanic is to execute the installation of commercial HVAC systems, including various components such as:

  • Package units, both ground and rooftop
  • Large commercial chillers (air and water-cooled) and cooling towers
  • Split system units
  • Central air handling units
  • Exhaust fans (roof-mounted, wall-mounted, and suspended)
  • Diverse air distribution systems
  • Flexible, spiral, and single-wall duct systems
  • Fire and smoke dampers
  • Kitchen hoods and related ductwork
  • Ceiling and wall grilles and diffusers

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all projects are completed within the estimated cost parameters.
  2. Provide supervision and support to field personnel on larger installations when necessary.
  3. Maintain effective communication with clients and team members.

Essential Duties:

  • Possess a valid driver's license and meet physical requirements to perform job duties.
  • Thoroughly review job packages and communicate relevant information to field personnel.
  • Perform installation services for commercial HVAC systems.
  • Adhere to the company's quality standards for workmanship and installation.
  • Work in various weather conditions as per company policy.
  • Maintain daily communication with field personnel and project managers.
  • Coordinate material orders and deliveries to optimize production.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork related to installation projects.
  • Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Obtain and maintain an EPA refrigerant certification as per company guidelines.
  • Conduct equipment startup procedures, ensuring proper wiring and refrigerant charging.
  • Complete timesheets accurately on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Maintain tools and vehicles in excellent condition.
  • Monitor job sites for safety compliance and report violations.
  • Follow instructions from the Installation Supervisor.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  1. Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 80 lbs.
  2. Load and unload materials for projects, maneuvering in tight spaces.
  3. Climb ladders and operate aerial lifts as required.
  4. Assist in setting equipment using cranes and other construction vehicles.
  5. Familiarity with safe operation of tools such as hammer drills.
  6. Work in various environmental conditions, from outdoor settings to indoor utility plants.
