Position Overview
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Private Duty plays a crucial role in delivering both direct and indirect nursing services under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This position emphasizes professionalism and adherence to the Physician's Plan of Treatment, ensuring that care is tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.

Key Responsibilities
The LPN will be responsible for:

  • Providing nursing care in accordance with the Physician's Plan of Treatment and company policies, while promptly communicating any changes in the child's condition to the appropriate parties.
  • Executing treatments and care plans as directed by the RN, demonstrating clinical proficiency in all nursing tasks.
  • Monitoring and documenting the child's response to treatments, medications, and overall care, making necessary adjustments based on evaluations.
  • Incorporating the preferences of the child and family into the care process, ensuring a personalized approach.
  • Offering valuable insights to the RN regarding the child's developmental, cognitive, and psychosocial needs.
  • Maintaining knowledge of emergency protocols and responding effectively in crisis situations.
  • Completing accurate documentation of care provided, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulatory standards.
  • Collaborating with caregivers to review and verify current treatment orders during visits.

Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Graduation from an accredited LPN program.
  • A minimum of one year of nursing experience is required, with a preference for experience in pediatric care and home health settings.
  • Possession of a current and valid LPN license.
  • Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • Completion of Pediatric Emergency Assessment within 180 days of employment, or Pediatric Advanced Life Support if applicable.
