Position Overview

The Registered Nurse will prescribe, delegate, and coordinate professional nursing care for pediatric patients, utilizing the nursing process in alignment with hospital policies and clinical practice guidelines. The role requires meeting specific job standards and demonstrating proficiency in designated skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient and Family Assessments: Conduct comprehensive, age-appropriate assessments for patients and their families upon each visit, adhering to established standards. Continuously evaluate and document the patient's physical, mental, developmental, emotional, and social status, ensuring understanding of their unique needs.
  • Documentation and Evaluation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of nursing actions, ensuring compliance with organizational standards. Facilitate effective communication between patients, families, and healthcare professionals, addressing inquiries promptly.
  • Provider Support: Collect and relay pertinent patient information to physicians, assisting in maintaining efficient clinic operations and enhancing patient experience.
  • Specialized Nursing Tasks: Perform unique tasks and procedures relevant to Ambulatory Care clinics, including database management and patient education, ensuring organized and detail-oriented execution.
  • Attendance: Regular attendance is a critical aspect of this role.
  • Physical Requirements: Fulfill the physical demands as outlined in the job specifications.

Educational Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution is required, or
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution is required.

Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 1 year of nursing experience is required, with preference given to candidates with pediatric experience.
  • Familiarity with EPIC is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Valid RN - Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Nebraska or Compact State Licensure is required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Additional certifications as defined by specific job competencies are required.
  • PEARS - Pediatric Emergency Assessment must be obtained within 180 days of hire, or PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support if applicable.
