About the Role:

Eckerd Connects is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Counselor to join our team at our Girls Short-Term Juvenile Justice Residential Program in Manson, NC. As a Youth Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing guidance, support, and mentorship to at-risk youth, helping them to develop the skills and tools needed to successfully reintegrate into their families and communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized counseling and support to youth, focusing on strength-based development and rational living cognitive behavioral therapy.
  • Lead group activities and programs, promoting positive relationships and a supportive environment.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the overall supervision and safety of clients.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and physical restraint techniques, as needed.

Requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older, per DJJ guidelines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of two years' relevant experience working with youth.
  • Bachelor's degree in social/behavioral services or outdoor recreation specialties preferred.
  • Ability to travel about property, through wilderness terrain.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet requirements for Eckerd's Auto Insurance.

About Our Program:

Eckerd Connects' Girls Short-Term Juvenile Justice Residential Program is a gender-responsive, complete rehabilitative experience delivered in 4 to 6 months for girls ages 12-17. Our program assists young women in learning the skills and tools needed to successfully re-integrate with their families and back into their communities.
