About the Role:

Eckerd Youth Alternatives is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Youth Counselor to join our team. As a Youth Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic support to at-risk youth in our residential program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to youth, focusing on strength-based development and rational living cognitive behavioral therapy.
  • Lead group activities and ensure the progress and welfare of each client and the group.
  • Supervise staff and ensure the overall supervision and safety of clients.
  • Participate in aquatic activities and be able to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of two years' relevant experience working with youth.
  • Ability to travel about property, through wilderness terrain.
  • Must be able to pass evaluation of crisis intervention/physical restraint techniques and written certification exam.

Eckerd Connects' Girls Short-Term Juvenile Justice Residential Program is a gender-responsive, complete rehabilitative experience delivered in 4 to 6 months for girls ages 12-17. Our program assists young women in learning the skills and tools needed to successfully re-integrate with their families and back into their communities.
