The specialist will identify employers willing to hire and support program participants as outlined in grant agreements.
Key Responsibilities
Employer Engagement:
- Lead the recruitment of businesses and establish agreements for initiatives such as Work Experience and Subsidized Employment, while exploring job development opportunities for clients.
- Oversee worksite agreements to ensure that compensation aligns with self-sufficiency wage standards.
- Utilize TWC Mainframe to support compliance with worksite agreements.
- Conduct site evaluations prior to forming partnerships with employers.
- Identify job openings suitable for participants facing minimal skills, criminal records, or other challenges, and arrange interviews.
- Provide ongoing support by visiting worksites weekly to assist both job seekers and employers.
- Facilitate the transition of participants from work experience to unsubsidized employment.
- Accurately assess eligibility in line with local, state, and federal guidelines to ensure effective use of program funding.
- Maintain thorough documentation of eligibility and secure necessary approvals for participant involvement, while monitoring progress throughout their engagement.
- Conduct interviews to gather comprehensive information on job seekers' education, background, skills, and employment aspirations.
- Provide current labor market insights and job search resources to participants.
- Utilize assessments to create a feasible career pathway for each job seeker.
- Offer job search support and referrals during each interaction.
- Assist participants in accessing additional supportive services related to their job search and employment.
- Encourage further education and training to improve job seekers' skill sets.
- Build a collaborative relationship with job seekers to achieve case management goals.
- Ensure job seekers complete their WIT profiles and Wagner Peyser documentation.
- Help job seekers prepare professional resumes.
- Leverage workforce data management systems effectively.
- Provide virtual services through platforms like DocuSign and TEAMS.
- Monitor job seekers' performance regarding employment and training outcomes, and refer them to suitable paid work activities.
- Ensure timely and accurate updates for all job seekers in compliance with program regulations.
- Review performance reports to confirm that all services and data entries are completed promptly.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or six years of experience in workforce development or public relations, including two years in a supervisory role; or
- Associate degree with six years of experience in a similar field, including two years in a supervisory role; or
- High School Diploma with eight years of relevant experience, including two years in a supervisory role.
- Preferred knowledge of workforce development programs, economic trends, and project management.
- Experience in a performance-driven environment with strong analytical skills.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate staff and engage stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in data management.
- Ability to facilitate training sessions for diverse groups.
- Proficiency in establishing effective collaborative relationships.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires extensive periods of standing, sitting, and desk work, with some lifting of up to 50 pounds. Work is primarily in an office setting with specified hours, though flexibility may be required. Interaction with individuals from diverse backgrounds is a key component of the role.
Travel Requirements:
Travel within the designated area may be necessary.
