About the Role

The Library Support Specialist provides critical support to the Learning Resource Center at Stratford University, ensuring that it serves as a seamless extension of the classroom. This role is responsible for assisting students, staff, and faculty in developing the information literacy skills necessary for academic and professional success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Resource Provision: Identify and provide access to resources that support Stratford University's academic programs.
  • Safe and Inclusive Environment: Create a safe and welcoming space for students to utilize the Learning Resource Center's resources.
  • Customer Service: Treat all students and faculty with dignity and respect, providing exceptional customer service.
  • Information Assistance: Assist students and faculty in locating relevant materials to meet their informational needs.
  • Collection Development: Collaborate with the Librarian to develop, evaluate, and maintain the library collection to meet the needs of students and faculty.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of supplies and place orders as necessary.
  • Financial Administration: Prepare library invoices for payment, working closely with the Librarian and Accounting Office.
  • Textbook Coordination: Assist the Librarian and Textbook Coordinator in implementing and coordinating the textbook program and distribution.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend changes and improvements in processes to enhance the Learning Resource Center's services.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Strong knowledge of research processes, library procedures, computer skills, current copyright law, Library of Congress classification system, and electronic databases.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Technology: Strong technology skills.
