Job Title: Senior Process Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our team at Proterial Cable America. As a key member of our Wire and Cable Division, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the production process, ensuring all equipment is running as specified, and maintaining proper tooling and machine tolerances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee equipment to ensure safety and participate in safety programs.
  • Provide support to the Production Department, conducting process optimization, re-engineering, and troubleshooting.
  • Interface with engineering personnel on new product development and materials evaluation.
  • Train operators and supervision on manufacturing processes.
  • Manage projects, including product non-conformance testing, tooling coordination, and mechanical/gauge/processing gap analysis.
  • Coordinate with the Manager of Continuous Improvement and department managers to execute process improvements.
  • Work with Production Control, Engineering, and the Commercial Team to provide schedules for product development projects.
  • Track new cable samples and ensure products are verified and listed.
  • Responsible for process documentation control, including process sheets, SDS, Visual Aids, safety alerts, and prototype files.
  • Possess technical ability to troubleshoot process failures and implement countermeasures.
  • Coordinate technical training for process technicians and Process Engineers.
  • Aid in mechanical repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance of equipment and machinery.
  • Mentor process technicians in wire drawing, extrusion, twist, cable, tape, braid, lamination, respool, and other areas.
  • Coordinate with the Quality Manager on the plant's total quality program.
  • Initiate actions to prevent nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality system.
  • Communicate manufacturing and operations issues, recommend strategies, and participate in long-range plant expansion, conversion, and equipment planning.
  • Provide employee training and development opportunities and communicate effectively to motivate others.
  • Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and practice safe behaviors.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Process Engineer with progressively increasing responsibilities within the Wire and Cable Industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, with hands-on experience in a wire and cable manufacturing environment a plus.
  • Prior manufacturing experience, ideally on a production floor.
  • Understanding of and ability to implement Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Advanced computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office, database programs, with ability to develop knowledge of customized system(s), especially related to manufacturing operations.
