The Opportunity:

As a Culinary Arts Expert, you will have the chance to prepare meals for our patrons using fresh, locally sourced ingredients. You will uphold our rigorous standards of excellence in the kitchen, ensuring that our facilities and inventories are clean, organized, and well-maintained. The Accountabilities:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to faculty, staff, students, and guests.
  • Prepare food items following recipes or instructions from the Chef, adhering to proper knife handling techniques.
  • Support the Chef by assisting in various kitchen areas as needed.
  • Manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of facilities.
  • Implement kitchen sanitation protocols and comply with food handling and safety regulations.
  • Follow departmental service standards and all health, safety, and university policies.
  • Participate in required meetings.
  • Report to your assigned station, ready to commence work at the scheduled time.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to modify duties as necessary.
The Qualifiers:
  • Minimum Education: High School diploma not required.
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year.
  • Minimum Field of Expertise: Must successfully complete the culinary skills assessment conducted by the Executive Chef.
  • Familiarity with all kitchen equipment, both small and large scale.
  • Knowledge of restaurant and banquet-style cooking.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service.
  • Experience in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.
What We Prefer:
  • Preferred Education: High School or equivalent; specialized/technical training.
  • Preferred Experience: 2 years.
  • Preferred Field of Expertise: Culinary School diploma; two years in a restaurant/hotel/high-volume banquet and catering operation.
