Culinary Education Specialist Position at Hospitality Training Academy

The Culinary Education Specialist will be tasked with delivering practical culinary instruction in accordance with HTA's established curriculum to a varied student demographic. This role includes assisting the Director of Food and Beverage Training with the culinary apprenticeship initiative and additional related courses. The position reports directly to the Director of Food and Beverage Training and is temporary in nature.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement effective teaching strategies that align with HTA's mission
  • Engage in curriculum design and enhancement
  • Foster a supportive learning atmosphere to motivate students
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations during classes
  • Oversee Assistant Culinary Instructors
  • Act as a representative of HTA within the community and cultivate partnerships with industry stakeholders
  • Facilitate communication with industry partners to support student job placements
  • Interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds with respect
  • Prepare students for successful career opportunities after graduation
  • Conduct scheduled culinary classes
  • Possess the ability to travel within the greater Los Angeles area
  • Utilize personal vehicle for offsite responsibilities
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, faculty, students, and industry professionals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

*Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is essential*

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent culinary certification
  • A minimum of 7 years' experience in a Sous Chef or Executive Chef role
  • ServSafe Instructor/Proctor certification is required
  • Flexible availability for work hours
  • Physical capability to stand, lift, and handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Expertise in commercial kitchen practices

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Dynamic presentation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
